Save the date! The Friends are introducing our inaugural education conference on Saturday, May 10, 2025! The Education Conference will be a bi-annual event focusing on current topics within the Museum, community, and Louisiana History. 

The Billy Cannon Legacy – Bridging Education, Sports, and Reentry

Billy Cannon’s name is legendary in Louisiana. From his historic Heisman Trophy win to his impact beyond the field, Billy’s legacy embodies the power of perseverance, education, and second chances.

This inaugural education conference will explore how sports can serve as a bridge to educational attainment and reentry success, offering individuals the chance to build rebuild their futures through athletics, mentorship, and academic opportunities. Featuring a distinguished panel of experts, former athletes, and educators, this event will provide valuable insights, highlight successful reentry stories, and inspire actionable change in the community.

Additionally, attendees will enjoy a sit-down dinner, a photo opportunity, and access to community resources focused on education and reentry pathways in Louisiana.
