‘Friends of the Capitol Park Museum Launches

“Summer at the Museum” Program Series’

Baton Rouge, LA — May 7, 2025 — The Friends of the Capitol Park Museum proudly announces the launch of its inaugural Summer at the Museum program series, bringing vibrant, educational, and creative family programming to downtown Baton Rouge. From May through August 2025, this exciting initiative will offer four themed experiences—Movies, Music, Maker, and Minds at the Museum—all hosted on-site at the Capitol Park Museum.

“Summer at the Museum is designed to activate the museum grounds and offer fun, interactive, and meaningful experiences for families across Baton Rouge,” said Griffin Landry, President of the Friends of the Capitol Park Museum. “We’re excited to create new activities for people to get involved, while celebrating Louisiana’s rich history and culture.”

Each event is free and open to the public, with programs taking place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on scheduled evenings unless otherwise noted. The series will include:

  • Movies at the Museum – Enjoy family-friendly movie nights under the stars on the Capitol lawn.
  • Maker at the Museum – Get creative with arts, crafts, and hands-on projects inspired by Louisiana culture.
  • Music at the Museum – Explore local music history, hear from guest musicians, and participate in music appreciation activities.
  • Minds at the Museum – Dive into engaging STEM and STEAM learning through experiments, discovery, and innovation.

The series is open to all ages, with activities especially geared toward children ages 5–15. Community partners, local artists, and educators will help lead activities that reflect the Friends’ mission to create engaging, inclusive, and enriching museum experiences.
